Rider and Trainer Nicole Aden is based in Spokane, WA and travels across the U.S. as a 4* Level Rider. A few notable career highlights include 1st Place Preliminary Horse Division American Eventing Championships in 2022 aboard her horse, Illustrator, and is a two-time recipient of the Bromont Rising U25 Competition Grant.
Nicole grew up in Spokane, WA to non-horse parents but had a burning desire to ride horses at the age of 5. Throughout her teen years, Nicole progressed through the Preliminary level with 2 OTTBs her parents purchased for her, making her own way and always being known for her determined attitude and undeniable work ethic.
Nicole moved to Lexington, KY to attend The University of Kentucky and began training with Allie Knowles. Upon graduating in 2016 with a degree in Equine Science, Nicole took on a job at the racetrack exercising racehorses and breaking 2-year olds; hoping that one day she would be offered a job to work for Allie. Her dream came true and in the winter of 2017 she began as a working student for Allie. Throughout the 4 years she worked for Allie, she worked her way up from working student to head groom, and eventually Assistant Rider. All while producing her own OTTB Truckee Bash up through the Advanced/4* level, and Lexander Farm LLC's Illustrator up through the Preliminary level.
Throughout the year and a half that Nicole worked for Buck, she polished off her skills and competitive edge and achieved notable placings on her two horses.
In March 2022 Nicole moved back to Spokane, WA, with the goal of sharing her knowledge and establishing a program for eager Event riders in the area. Since moving back, many riders have chosen Nicole to help them with their riding goals. Nicole's love for horses, passion for the sport, and strong fundamentals have made her a choice for many riders in Spokane. Nicole's career goals are to achieve 5* level of Eventing, with the goal of representing the nation.
Truckee Bash is a 16 year old OTTB that Nicole purchased in 2016. Nicole produced Truckee from the preliminary level through the Advanced/4* level. With many notable completions at the most prestigious events including, Ocala International, Plantation Field, and Chattahoochee Hills, Fair Hill International, and Bromont, Trucker and Nicole have an extremely special bond that has allowed them both to learn while climbing the levels consistently. Truckee is a cross-country machine, and has the most heart of any horse Nicole has ever ridden.
Also known around the barn as "Little Man" for his loving and pony-like personality. Illustrator is owned by Lexander Farm LLC and they have supported the partnership from the very beginning. Little Man started out in the hunter ring, but eventually it was determined it was not the right fit for him. Nicole took over the ride with the hope of seeing if he enjoyed Eventing, and found out he did! Little Man cannot be missed with his incredible scope, big gallop, and fan club wherever he goes. Nicole and Illustrator have formed an incredible partnership and recently took home the win in the Preliminary Horse Division at the AECs in 2022! Nicole and Illustrator are looking towards an Intermediate move-up in fall 2022.
